Where should I wear a face mask or covering?

Wearing face masks is going to become the norm for the next number of months. There have been several announcements recently on the use of face coverings or face masks. We have summarised some of them below.

Are masks required on public transport?

The government have issued a recommendation that face masks or coverings should be worn in situations where it is difficult to practice social distancing, like in shops or on busy public transport.

Do I need to wear a mask on a flight?

Most of us are not thinking of air travel right now. Many will spend the rest of the year in Ireland. However, summer is coming and there may be people considering taking an Aer Lingus or Ryanair flight to the sun. Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus announced today that face coverings (cloth or disposable) will be required on all flights until 31st August at least, with exemptions for those unable to wear masks, including young children. If you are going to be travelling on a flight, you want to make sure the mask will be comfortable.

Is the wearing of a face mask against the law?

The short answer here is no. There is currently no legal requirement to wear a face mask or covering.
